ICEBERG PAINTINGS CAPTURE THE SPIRIT OF A VANISHING SPECIES

AS THE ICE CAPS AND GLACIERS MELT, THESE PAINTINGS TELL THEIR STORY

International artist and sculptor K.A. Colorado has spent the last twenty years working with ice, snow, and icebergs all around the globe. The artist has traveled to Antarctica and the Patagonia ice fields where he was invited by the Arctic Scientific Research Library at CADIC-CONICET to study icebergs and glaciers.

K.A. Colorado was also invited to participate in the International Conference on Hydrometeorological Security held in Moscow, Russia, where his paper on Snow Mass and Texture Changes was published. As the only artist among a group of renowned scientists from throughout the world whose area of expertise is climate study, including the polar and arctic regions, K.A. Colorado's artwork depicting icebergs and ice cores was posted for thoughtful viewing at this important conference.

In addition to performing art installations on actual icebergs, K.A. Colorado has produced a series of paintings representing icebergs and their fleeting beauty. These paintings capture the spirit of the iceberg and immortalize it as a vanishing species.

Creating and installing art pieces depicting icebergs is an artistic endeavor that K.A. Colorado undertakes in order to represent human art, science, and nature joining together. K.A. Colorado's Iceberg Paintings reflect the depth and history of these ancient masses while gently echoing the moral and social implications of climate and climate issues.
